The Dutch Ballet Orchestra is based in Amsterdam and performs in Dutch National Opera&Ballet (Amsterdam) with its main partners "Het Nationale Ballet" and NDT both in the Hague, and on tour nationally. The orchestra brings together music and dance into a magical experience: from classical ballet to modern dance, from concerts centred around ballet repertoire to music education and talent development. The Dutch Ballet Orchestra is conducted by chief conductor Matthew Rowe, and consists of 45 musicians, supported by highly qualified guest players. Members of the Dutch Ballet Orchestra combine their commitment to the Orchestra with a varied workfield of chamber music, extra work in ensembles and orchestras and teaching. This is what makes the orchestra flexible, dynamic and of high quality. The orchestra aims to being the best ballet orchestra in the world, driven by one mission: optimal synthesis between music and dance.
